Area Satanists provided a fire-and-brimstone caution to whoever burned down their historic “Halloween House” in upstate New York recently.
Built in 1900, the Poughkeepsie house acted as a meeting place for regional members of the Church of Satan up until it was fired by an unknown arsonist Thursday, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
“Now there’s going to be hell to pay,” a member, who passes the name Isis Vermouth, informed the paper.
“Whoever did this is going to be hexed by all of us.”
The Satanist stated other regional followers of the religious beliefs remained in shock over the blaze which “everyone in the neighborhood is worried.”
Surveillance video footage revealed an individual approaching your house at 27 South Clinton St. at around 5 a.m. on Thursday with 2 gas cans, sprinkling liquid on the front patio and sparking it, authorities stated.
Two individuals inside the house at the time had the ability to leave unhurt.
The Addams Family-design center for members — which had actually been embellished with devil sculptures and other stuffs — showcased the beliefs of long time previous owner, Joe “Netherworld” Mendillo, a Church of Satan adherent who passed away in 2015.
“It was extraordinarily different,” City Councilman Chris Petsas stated. “It wasn’t your normal home.”
Peter H. Gilmore, high priest of the Church of Satan, stated it was not likely your house would be brought back due to the fact that of the comprehensive damage.
“Sadly there are some ‘people of faith’ who are intolerant, and typically ignorant, of other belief systems,” stated Gilmore, who lives down the block in what members call Poughkeepsie’s “Witchcraft District.”
“I am convinced that Joe’s legacy will live on,” Gilmore included, “even though the home he so carefully cultivated has been destroyed through the hateful act of some deeply disturbed individual, regardless of motivation.”
