The feds are examining whether a Pennsylvania female who was seen on video participating in the United States Capitol riots stole a laptop or disk drive from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s workplace and prepared to sell it to the Russians, authorities stated.
The FBI is looking for Riley June Williams on charges consisting of getting in a limited structure, interfering with the organized conduct of federal government and participating in disorderly or disruptive conduct.
There is no sign that a laptop was really pilfered from the speaker’s workplace and the agency said in an affidavit that “the matter remains under investigation.”
“It appears that WILLIAMS has fled,” according to the affidavit. “According to regional police officers in Harrisburg, WILLIAMS’ mom specified that WILLIAMS loaded a bag and left her house and informed her mom she would be chosen a number of weeks.
“WILLIAMS did not provide her mother any information about her intended destination,” it included.
A witness referred to as a previous romantic partner of Williams declared to have actually seen video footage of her “taking a laptop computer or hard drive from Speaker Pelosi’s office.”
“[Witness 1] stated that WILLIAMS intended to send the computer device to a friend in Russia, who then planned to sell the device to SVR, Russia’s foreign intelligence service,” a representative stated.
“According to [Witness 1], the transfer of the computer device to Russia fell through for unknown reasons and WILLIAMS still has the computer device or destroyed it,” according to the affidavit, that includes a link to a documentary produced by London-based ITV News.
A female determined as Williams — using glasses, a green t-shirt and brown raincoat and bring a bag over her shoulder — can be seen shouting “upstairs, upstairs, upstairs,” pressing individuals towards Pelosi’s workplace, according to NPR.
The reveal songs out the female, stating she was “disciplined, focused, with a sense of urgency, directing people up a staircase.”
On Jan. 16, William’s mom informed authorities “that a British media crew had come to her home the night before, asking to speak with WILLIAMS, who was not present,” according to the affidavit.
“The news crew presented WILLIAMS’ mother with one or more images taken at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Her mother acknowledged that it was WILLIAMS in the image,” the affidavit stated.
“It appears that WILLIAMS has fled,” it included.
Williams has actually not been charged of theft.
