Meek Mill Facing Copyright Infringement Lawsuit For Allegedly Stealing Lyrics To ‘100 Summers’ & ‘Cold Hearted II’

Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill is being accused of stealing the lyrics to two of his biggest songs. Dream Rich Entertainment LLC, a boutique music label also based in Philadelphia, has filed a lawsuit against Robert Rihmeek Williams, also known as Meek Mill, for allegedly stealing lyrics for the songs “100 Summers” and “Cold Hearted II.” Both were on his 2018 Grammy-nominated album Championships. As of Friday (July 3rd), no official word of response or plan to fight the lawsuit has come from Meek Mill, his lawyers, or anyone in his camp.

Bossip reports that in 2018, Dream Rich Entertainment obtained the lyrics and the copyrights to both songs because it alleges that a contracted songwriter with them composed them. The company says in its court filings that Meek Mill had access to the words and claims he recorded the songs with the exact same titles and lyrics.

The copyright infringement lawsuit, which is also against Dream Chaser Records, Inc., a label founded by Meek Mill in a joint venture with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, and parent company Atlantic Records, was filed on June 8, 2020, with the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania. Simon Rosen, a Philadelphia entertainment attorney, was listed as the legal rep for Dream Rich Entertainment while there is no legal representation for Meek Mill, Atlantic Records, and Dream Chaser Records.

Reportedly, Dream Rich Entertainment wants Meek Mill, his label, and his parent label to compensate them to the tune of more than $300,000 for each alleged infringement named in the suit. The judge to preside over the case is Gene E.K. Pratter.
