Cardi B‘s raunchy and highly anticipated comeback single “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, has been a smash hit, debuting at No. 1 on Billboards’ Hot 100 chart.
So both ladies expressed a desire to thank their fans for making the song so successful. But they didn’t merely tweet a thank you message, they showed their gratitude by giving away some money in a sweepstakes on Twitter that ended on Thursday, Aug. 20.

The sweepstakes was the biggest cash giveaway ever held on Twitter when it was announced, according to Billboard. A total of 2,000 people were then randomly chosen to win $500, and some started receiving their winnings on the same day the sweepstakes was announced. Others received their money on Friday, Aug. 21, and thanked Cash App.
“THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG i’m shaking i love you guys so much,” one woman tweeted,” last week.
“Thank you, Thank you,” Cash App, another person wrote.
Cardi and Megan explained on Twitter last week why they wanted to be involved with the sweepstakes as they thanked their fans for the success of the hot new single.
“To all everyone supporting #WAP we see you!!” Megan tweeted. “We’re partnering with Twitter and Cash App to celebrate all the powerful women out there by giving away a total of $1 million dollars. how can some $ help you or a woman you know right now? drop your $cashtag and use.”

To enter the sweepstakes, one had to be at least 18 years old and have a Twitter as well as a Cash App account. People then had to reply to Cardi and Megan’s posts that marketed the sweepstakes, while adding the hashtag “#WAPParty” and their “cashtag.”
“WAP,” released on Aug. 7, has decimated the record for most streams in a song’s first week with 93 million. The single marks the fourth time that Cardi has landed in the Hot 100 top slot, with “Bodak Yellow,” “I Like It,” and her feature on Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” reaching the No. 1 spot before that.
“Breaking pop records! HIP HOP DID THAT !!” wrote Cardi on Instagram on Monday, Aug. 17, at the news of her song breaking the first week streaming record. “I’m sooo f—–n happy. Im so proud of us!
