Terry Crews was dragged on social media for the second time in a month after he criticized the Black Lives Matter movement on Twitter this week.

The “America’s Got Talent” host posted a message that drew the ire of Twitter on Tuesday, June 30.

“If you are a child of God, you are my brother and sister,” he wrote. “I have family of every race, creed and ideology. We must ensure #blacklivesmatter doesn’t morph into #blacklivesbetter.”

Crews’ tweet did not go over well.

“We’re so far from that bridge, Terry,” wrote Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “#BlackLivesMatter is, in part, a rallying cry and a protest slogan to galvanize people into doing the justice work needed to derail the deaths, dehumanization and destruction of Black lives that racism causes. Justice is not a competition.”

I hope Terry Crews enjoys the fact that racists and MAGA types love him and park in his mentions now to thank him for being a good negro smh— Ira Madison III (@ira) June 30, 2020

How fast does Terry Crews think black equality is gonna come? How in his mind do we spend 400 years under the boots of white supremacy and then all of a sudden leapfrog white people into being their oppressor after a few weeks of protests? pic.twitter.com/Crv2oGXTKS— Travon Free (@Travon) June 30, 2020
“Terry. what in the actual hell? this is the very definition of a strawman argument,” said media personality Franchesca Ramsey. “Why would you suggest a movement created to advocate for the prosecution of cops/citizens responsible for racially motivated killings could somehow morph into ‘we’re better.’ ”

The power of white supremacy and the eurocentric construct of Black self hatred is on full display when you see a Black man out here tap dancing, warning us about ‘Black supremacy’ and ‘ensuring that #BlackLivesMatter doesn’t morph into Black lives better.’#TerryCrews— Bishop Talbert Swan (@TalbertSwan) June 30, 2020
“This is unintellectual and irresponsible,” said “Insecure” star Amanda Seales. “You are developing into an enemy of the people. Ignorance will be your downfall.”

Crews is no stranger to putting his virtual foot in his mouth. Like many others, he has been vocal since George Floyd’s death sparked weeks of unrest across the United States and several other countries. Floyd died on Memorial Day after former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin pressed a knee into his neck for more than eight minutes.

In early June, the actor warned against replacing white supremacy with its Black equivalent.

“Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth. Like it or not, we are all in this together,” he tweeted on June 8.

The Black supremacy tweet also sparked controversy and Crews defended himself to his critics.

“Any Black person who calls me a coon or and Uncle Tom for promoting EQUALITY is a Black Supremist, because they have determined who’s Black and who is not,” Crews said in another tweet. “Please know that everything I’ve said comes from a spirit of love and reconciliation, for the Black community first, then the world as a whole, in hopes to see a better future for Black people.”

Crew has not responded to the #blacklivesbetter controversy.
