Social networking site Reddit has banned its biggest community of Trump Supporters Notoriously Called Trumpers as part of its efforts to enforce its hate speech policies.
The community or “subreddit,” called “The_Donald,” had more than 790,000 users — and is credited with helping to amplify Trump’s message of division across the nation.
Of course, Trump supporters are not happy about it.
“Reddit is a place for community and belonging, not for attacking people,” Steve Huffman, the company’s chief executive said per the NY Times. “‘The_Donald’ has been in violation of that.”
Facebook is also rethinking its policies after the platform lost more than $7 billion in advertising as companies continue to boycott the platform over its hate speech policies.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Friday that he would take action before the election.
“I’m optimistic that we can make progress on public health and racial justice while maintaining our democratic traditions around free expression and voting,” Zuckerberg wrote. “I’m committed to making sure Facebook is a force for good on this journey.”
