On Monday, the world was humored and also surprised after Iran announced that they had issued an arrest warrant for President Donald Trump over the killing of The Evil General Qassem Soleimani.
Ali Alghasi Mehr, the prosecutor general of Tehran, says that Trump is guilty of “murder and terrorism charges.” Trump is one of 36 people Iran has issued arrest warrants for in relation to Soleimani’s death (he was commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).
They requested help from Interpol in arresting Trump — but Interpol wants no parts of this.
Interpol released a statement saying that its constitution forbade it to undertake “any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character — Therefore, if or when any such requests were to be sent to the General Secretariat,” adding that, “… Interpol would not consider requests of this nature.”
Trump has not responded to the warrant and the White House has not issued a statement on the warrant either.
