A little history about the man El-Zakzaky .
The movement began with a Shia Muslim university activist, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, who is said to have become so impressed with the 1979 Iranian Revolution that he wanted one at home. Later, Zakzaky went to Iran, ultimately becoming a Shia cleric. At home he became the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria and turned it into a vehicle for proselytizing and gaining followers in the 1990s. As a result of his activities, millions have converted to Shia Islam in a country once with hardly any Shia population.
Shia Islam was “almost unknown” in Nigeria until the 1980s, when Ibrahim Zakzaky introduced Shia Islam. Zakzaky’s gained a following among those disenchanted with the political and religious establishment.

What led to the arrest and incarceration of Shitte leader El-Zakzaky?
Saturday, 12 December 2015, Shiite followers of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria attempted to assassinate Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, Shite members barricaded the road Mr. Buratai’s motorcade was passing to pay homage on the Emir of Zazzau, and also attend a review parade by 73 Regular Recruit Intake at the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria. The sect numbering hundreds carrying dangerous weapons, barricaded the roads with bonfires, heavy stones and tyres, refused all entreaties to disperse and then started firing and pelting the convoy with dangerous objects”.
The troops responsible for the safety and security of the Chief of Army Staff on hearing explosion and firing were left with no choice than to defend him and the convoy at all cost as well as open up the barricaded road for law abiding citizens. This is in line with the Nigerian Army Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct. The army said the sect carried out the attempt on Mr. Buratai’s life on the instructions of Ibrahim El-zakzaky, the leader of the Shiite group.
At least 348 civilians were killed, with 347 bodies secretly buried by the army in a masse grave and the Ieader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, El-Zakzaky was arrested by the Nigerian Army with his wife.
What led to the unending protests by the strong willed Shittes members ?
The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, was granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Also granted bail by the court presided over by Justice Gabriel Kolawole was El-Zakzaky’s wife, Zeenatudeen.
The court ordered the immediate and unconditional release of El-Zakzaky and his wife.
Justice Kolawole also fined the Federal Government N50 million for the incarceration of the duo.
Both of them are to be paid N25 million each.
El-Zakzaky and his wife have been in detention since December 2015. Till now the Federal Government of Nigeria has turned a blind eye to the bail request and stubbornly refused to release Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky even admits his ill health and rumours of attempted assassination threats as alleged by El-Zakzaky’s son Mohammed Ibraheem Zakzaky.
The world should know that there is an Islamic fanatical dullard in Aso rock called Buhari who thinks cows all day, never adhers to the rule of law and behaves like a democratic dictator in a democratic society. Even after members of the Nigerian House of Representatives and other concerned Nigerians have appealed to him to release Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife from prison.
